Nokia Gives Ovi Maps Traffic Updates, Gowalla Like Check-Ins, More

Gone are the days where we’re forced to whip out a map and find where we’re going and upon us are the days of digital navigation system. Modern day smart phones, in particular, are more than capable GPS devices with many featuring support from Google Maps.

On the Nokia side of things they too have their own GPS offerings with Ovi Maps. This features fundamentally the same things as Google Maps including turn-by-turn GPS all for free. Today, however, Nokia announced that Ovi Maps will be getting even more functionality thanks to a recent update. These new features includes live traffic information, the ability to “check-in” at various locations, a new drive aside mode and information about public transportation.

All of these features will help Ovi Maps make Nokia’s new offerings even more highly sought after than before.
